Me so happy!

I feel like it's been forever since I posted here, and it's only been like two days?? I'm not jet lagged anymore but a bit confused with the times.. It's like I'm trying to live both local and Finnish time. Sometimes the East Coast time, too, when I try to figure out what my friends there are doing at this minute. My brain is so over-loaded!! 

I have been enjoying myself a lot, though. I'm having fun at work and on my spare time. Work can be quite boring this week since it's just cleaning, but the staff is great. Everyone's funny and we're comfortable with each other, teasing each other and just having fun. That's what I love about Americans; they're instantly so welcoming, warm and open. It makes things so much easier for me. 

Today there was a humming bird at work! Poor little thing couldn't find his way back out. Maybe eventually, I don't know. I felt sorry for it, but at the same time I was pretty awestruck because we don't have humming birds in Finland and seeing one is always very exciting and exotic for me :D

Today I've been enjoying the company of my room mates. We've had such a fun time; we had dinner and now we're sitting by the dining table, each of us either on their laptops or phones. We're talking and listening to music. Loving this :)

HUOM! Suomalaiset, anteeksi suomenkielen puute. Muistan kyllä lupaukseni kirjottaa enemmän postauksia suomeks, mutta tällä hetkellä on pää niin sekasin kaikesta muusta, että kahella kielellä kirjottaminen ei ihan luonnistu vaivattomasti, ja aivot on enkku-modella. Mulle on vaan helpompi kirjottaa enkuks. Toivottavasti edes jonkin verran ymmärrätte, yritän kyllä jossain vaiheessa palata kirjottelemaan myös suomeksi! :)

Labor Day

Today's my last day of rest and tomorrow I'll start working! :) I'm still tired; woke up this morning at 6 and around 9am I started feeling tired again. I took a half-hour nap and after 10am me and my room mate headed out to check out the route to work. I was surprised at how easy it is to get there! Google Maps lied to me, dammit... 

Mt. Hood is so beautiful!! I love the fact that I get to see it every day :))

I'd never been to Red Robin before, I liked it a lot! Yummy :P

I'm here, safe and sound :)

I am so jet lagged you wouldn't believe. 

But I made it here! And I have to say, that the first impression of Portland is wonderful. It's such a laid-back city and it reflects out of everything and everyone. Gotta love it!

The flight was incredibly boring and long, but it went fine. I survived. 

I seriously don't have the energy to write anymore, so here are photos to tell you about my first day here!

Holla!

Just cleared the check-in and I'm now at the gate. My flight for Amsterdam leaves at 6.35am, so I've got a little over an hour :) I haven't slept at all, except for some light snoozing on the bus, but yeah, I'm seriously sleep deprived right now. I think that's only helpful, though. I've never really been able to sleep on airplanes, so I'm hoping that now I will get some sleep.. we'll see. 

I will have a couple of hours to kill at the airport in Amsterdam, before I take off to Portland. I'm gonna do what I always do; find something to eat because let's be honest, the airplane foods aren't that great, and buy something to read on the plane. I have a book (Catcher in the Rye), but I want something lighter... I admit, I will probably end up buying Us Weekly, People or In Touch... or all of them. Just because it's a long flight, and I might not sleep. 

AH!! Here I am, finally. I feel surreal. I look like a moron with my sweat pants and red eyes (in Amsterdam they'll probably think I'm high, lol!) but if there's something I've learned from my traveling, is that what you look like doesn't matter as long as you're comfortable.

I'm getting there! :)) If I can manage to get an internet connection tomorrow morning, I will post from the airport!! AAAAAAAAH, I'M LEAVING TOMORROW!!!

Viittä vaille on kaikki valmista!! :) Jos vaan saan internetyhteyden huomenna lentokentällä, niin teen lyhyen postauksen vielä sieltä! En jaksa uskoa, että huomenna on lähtö edessä! Alkaa jo jännittää :) 12 tunnin päästä pitäisi olla jo hereillä ja valmistautumassa bussiasemalle lähtöön.

I have had a great day!!!

Went to work (second-to-last day!) and since the place I work in is more of a summer-place, it's gotten really quiet... I had five customers today. FIVE! Not having much to do, I did something one isn't supposed to do at a work place: I was on Facebook and played games. Days like this are really, really boring, so hey, try to make the most of it. Tomorrow's my last day, hooray for that! :)

After work I visited my mom quickly, applied for ESTA and printed out all my travel documents for Saturday. Then I went shopping, got myself a pair of jeans  and some other useful stuff I needed. 

I smiled all day long. 

Doesn't happen that often, so I find it important to share with you guys. I couldn't help but think about how close Saturday is; I can't believe I'm going!!! 

Got my luggage ready! Not packed. Just ready for me to pack them full of things! 

I'll try to remember to take pictures of the packing process and post them here. That ought to be fun ;)

I guess now's as good a time as any

Ok, it's official. 

I'm freaking out.

I've got four days to get everything settled. FOUR DAYS! Sh*t. Seriously. Help me. 

My apartment's mostly done. 

But I haven't packed, not even a little bit.

I haven't applied for ESTA, and knowing that it will be taken care of tomorrow, isn't helping at all. 

I haven't exchanged all the money I want to exchange.

I still have some shopping to do, and I can't get it done until Wednesday or Thursday. 

I can't even remember what to do. 

I want to cry :(

Anybody out there, who would like to come and make sure I don't throw myself down from the balcony?

Yeah. It'll be ok, I know. I'll let you know by Friday night. Stay tuned.
